Safari Holidays

You don't have to be an avid wildlife fan to enjoy a safari. A safari holiday would suit anyone who is looking for a holiday with a difference enabling you to enjoy the adventure of the outdoors - generally good weather and mixing with people of different cultures. A safari holiday will give you an unforgettable experience by enjoying the magic of seeing the animals, in particular the predators such as the lions, leopards and cheetahs. On a safari holiday you will see abundance of wildlife from the small insects and snakes to the large mammals like the elephant. The whole experience is enhanced by the in-depth knowledge that is passed on by your safari guides. Most safari holidays are based around luxurious lodges and camps, some are tented but most of these tented camps are not like camping as we know it in the UK. Some of the lodges are based around permanent camps that offer amazing facilities in some spectacular locations.

Safari Holiday – Which destination?

Initially, the safari holidays were mainly centred around Kenya and Tanzania. Over the past twenty years or so a lot of places have emerged in addition to the originals, such as South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia. Zimbabwe also used to be a fantastic safari holiday destination, although for now the country is sadly not suitable for safaris. South Africa is these days one of the most popular safari holiday destinations, this being partly due to the fact that the country is so diverse and it has a lot to offer in terms of adding on to your safari holiday. Also, the quality of safari holidays in South Africa is second to none. The accommodation is of a very high standard as is, and most importantly, the quality of the game viewing which many believe is hard to beat. Kenya holidays attract a lot of people who are looking for a safari combined with a good beach holiday. It is very easy to have a safari here for 3 - 4 days followed by a 10 day holiday on one of the beach resorts on the Indian Ocean at Mombasa, such as Malindi. The great Kenyan safari areas such as the Masai Mara and Tsavo are regarded by many experienced safari holidaymakers to be some of the best areas in the world to see the abundance of animals and wildlife.

Safari Holidays - Who are they for?

Most people would enjoy a safari holiday although we don't recommend this type of holiday for really young children. We would suggest that the ideal age for children to enjoy a safari holiday is ten and above. Most people who take their children on a safari holiday also find this is an excellent educational experience for them. There are many things that children and adults can learn while on a safari holiday. It is best that anyone travelling on a safari holiday has a good general level of fitness as the days can be very long and tiring, with early starts and late finishes. A safari holiday combined with a beach holiday makes an ideal choice for those looking for a special occasion holiday, such as honeymoon, birthday or anniversary.
