Family Friendly Fun in Protaras
Located just along the coast from it's popular and impressive neighbour, Ayia Napa, the fun village of Protaras is one of the most popular resorts for holidays in Cyprus. Reputed to have the best beach on the whole island, Protaras boasts all of the facilities and energy of Ayia Napa in a slightly more family friendly setting, so those with children can come and enjoy the fun too. Purposely built on a large flat piece of land the resort exists mainly to cater for the British tourist trade but still exudes a charm all of it's own that lures tourists back on their holidays year after year.
Holidays in Protaras
The resort caters fabulously for tourists and is a colourful blend of mismatched architecture that oozes holiday fun, with hundreds of restaurants cooking a vast array of cuisines and decorated with dozens of themes, perfect for busy children. The area provides plenty of accommodation in the manner of hotels and apartments that lace their way through the centre so where ever you stay, you are never too far from the action. There are also a fair few carefully placed hotels that are slightly away from the main resort for those with very little children and like to stay in a slightly quieter area. There is not a great deal of Cypriot culture here but that is never too far away, it is a short drive to Salamis, an ancient city state that boasts plenty of well kept ruins for you to enjoy during your holidays.
Getting to Protaras
As for the rest of Cyprus, Larnaca is the main airport for this area, and is only an hours drive away, so you can drink in some of the natural sights of Cyprus before arriving at this haven for fun holidays. Flights last around four and a half hours here, which is a short distance to pay for such beautiful year-round weather. British Airways fly here frequently throughout the year at very good prices.
The pride of Protaras
The prized possession of this modernised town is the stunning, Blue Flag status beach that hugs the coastline. Stretching for ten miles, it is said to be the best beach in all of Cyprus not unsurprisingly as it's clean velvet sand sinks gently into the crystal clean Mediterranean and leads round to a wonderful choice of secluded coves and secret bays for those that wish to escape the crowds.
