Paphos' location
Paphos is situated on Cyprus' south-western stretch of coastline. In history it has been the country's capital city, though has been since superseded by Nicosia. The city's extensive history stretches back over 3400 years, to 1400 B.C. Greek legends have led some to believe that Paphos is the birthplace of Aphrodite; the Greek Goddess of Love, this created the romantic charms of the city.

Paphos' tourism is providing it with the means to improve and modernise itself, though it still preserves it's valuable architecture. The government is using money to invest in the city's infrastructure through projects such as dams, airports and roads. Many private businesses have also chosen to reap the benefits of a roaring tourist trade, many high-rise hotels, quaint pubs, excellent restaurants and entertainment venues have been constructed to empty tourists' wallets.

The medium-haul flight of four-and-a-half hours covers almost 2000 miles (3200 km) between London and Paphos' international airport. Both charter airlines such as British Airways and low-cost airlines such as easyJet have frequent direct flights to Paphos. The only hard part of booking a trip to Paphos is facing the return journey!

Many relics of ancient civilizations lie scattered in museums and galleries throughout the city. Attacks from both man and from nature have shaken the city to it's limits, but Paphos has remained strong, rebuilt and amassed an incredible history from throughout the ages.
