Holidays in Kardamena
One the most sought after resorts in the Dodecanesian islands of Kos, Kardamena is placed half way along the Southern 'holiday hotspot' coast. It is well known as a popular holiday destination with young people because of it's proliferation of bars, nightclubs and good beaches. A big part of a Kardamena holiday is the shopping, there are plenty of very good designer shops and local craftspeople selling everything from sarongs to sponges and leather to lava from the volcano. Because of it's 'beach holiday destination' status, Kardamena prides itself on some very special and beautiful beaches that run an astounding 14 km along the coastline. These do get very busy in the summer but a short stroll along the beach and this thins out dramatically. The beaches are popular with all types of holiday makers, from the sun worshippers right through to the water sports enthusiasts. and what would an beach holiday be without the standard pedalos and banana boating?!
Getting to Kardamena
Only 7 km from the main section of Kardamena is Kos airport, making transfers into your holiday smooth, quick and more importantly cheap. Flights to Kos last around three hours and are usually direct with low budget airlines like Easyjet, or you may need to book a short connecting flight to arrive at your holiday destination, this an often take place in Athens.
Sightseeing in Kardamena
Amongst all the holiday hype and tourist trade there are still plenty of beautiful things to see in an around Kardamena. a short drive away in Kos town there is a fascinating archaeological museum, showing some of the find of the island during it's excavations. There is also a very intriguing Roman Ruin to visit during your holiday, encompassing the ruins of some spectacular sights. This includes the three temples of Aphrodite, Hercules and Dionysus along with an ancient theatre, pool and gym, giving the perfect start to a trip back in time on your holiday.
