This resort is much more aimed towards rest and relaxation amongst beautiful countryside, there is some lively more traditional nightlife, but those seeking all night parties would be much better suited just along the coast in Kavos. Definite 'musts' on a holiday in Paleokastritsa are the waterfront Tavernas which have several daily fish deliveries from the waterfront, their seafood is considered to be some of the best in Greece, almost impossibly fresh. The rocks in between the beaches offer some wonderful opportunities for diving and snorkelling, with some stunning underwater scenes. The main focus on a Paleokastritsa holiday is leisure and relaxation, the pace of life here is slower and ultimately stress free.

Getting to Paleokastritsa

Flying to Paleokastritsa is very simple and fairly quick, flights land in Corfu airport, which is around an hour and a half's transfer away from the main resort of Paleokastritsa. If you have booked a package holiday, many tour operators will organise this for you. If not, there are many opportunities to hire a car in this area. Flights from the UK are cheap and frequent, lasting around four hours.

Walking holidays in Paleokastritsa

This resort is very well suited to those that enjoy exploring the countryside via walking, there are some beautiful and challenging routes all around Paleokastritsa. One of the most popular is up to the far north, which takes walkers up to the charming monastery of Theotokos, rewarding them with some breathtaking views of the bay. A slightly more challenging and somewhat strenuous in places is the walk up to the impressive medieval castle of Angelo Kastro. Crowning the hilltop, and overlooking the sea this castle can be reached on foot, although many choose to hire a car and take the scenic drive up to the top.
