Description: LHermitage is an elegant country house hotel -we believe it was the islands first- located near the picturesque village of Orient at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains. It stands in one of the quietest, most natural and undeveloped regions of Mallorca. This 17th century mansion, once a bishops seat and monastery, is now an exquisite lodging place, surrounded by ancient trees, apple orchards and olive groves. It was one the islands first country house hotels and, whilst it may not have the trimmings of a modern property, scores on atmosphere, in winter enhanced by roaring fires. The restaurant, designed around an ancient olive press, offers refined service and the outstanding cuisine is highly sought after by gourmets, who think nothing of driving there from Palma. The location makes it very popular with nature lovers and those who simply want to relax in the shade by the pool, read a book in the garden or go for a walk in the peaceful countryside.

Facilities: Bedrooms are individually decorated and have twin or double beds, sitting area, bathroom with 2 basins, bathrobes and hairdryer, satellite TV, free safe and mini-bar. Views are mostly of the hotel grounds and mountains. Three rooms in the original building do not have a terrace but the others do - including those in the garden wings, which also have connecting rooms. Superior rooms are available.
