A very prosperous country in the middle east and made up of seven states (or emirates) is located in the south-eastern corner of the Arabian Peninsula on the Persian Gulf sea. In recent years it has become a very successful country after the discovery of oil here in the early '70s and therefore has become a much sought after destination for opulent holidays. Five of the Emirates boast international airports to assist those on their holidays in and out of the country, two of these lay in Abu Dhabi and one of these is in Dubai. All of these airports are close to the main districts of the cities so transfers should not be a problem. Flights last around 7 hours and are usually direct from major UK cities with companies such as Emirates and Virgin Atlantic.
