Introducing Calis

Along the south western coast of Turkey, on the Mediterranean coast lies Calis. Pronounced 'Chalish' in Turkish the resort that is only 38 miles east of Dalaman is renowned throughout Turkey of it's relaxed ambience and stunning scenery and sunsets. The land of this area is very flat with a concrete promenade along the full length of the beach making this quiet resort a very suitable option for those with mobility problems. This resort has long been popular with British and German quiet seeking holiday makers that yearn for a relaxed beach setting on their holidays. The beaches are sandy and popular but similarly to Dalyan are protected at some point in the year because of turtles. The focal area in Calis is the seafront strip which is lined with popular hotels and apartment blocks interspersed with good restaurants, some lively bars and a couple of good discos. This is a pedestrian strip with no cars, perfect for those that want to get away from it all. Although this resort is quiet there is still plenty to do in the daytime as well as at night. The Sultan's Aquacity Waterpark is only a stone's throw from the main resort offering a fun and safe alternative to the beach for the young, and young at heart of course! There are also plenty of water sports to enjoy during the day at the beach. There are also a few very good and traditional markets in and around the area selling the typical Turkish fare, of fake designer goods, spices, teas and unusual foods, a must see for any first time visitor to Turkey.

Getting to Calis

the easiest way to get to Calis is via Dalaman airport which is just under 40 miles away, creating a wonderfully short transfer time from the airport into your holidays. Flights from the UK are usually direct and last around four hours, flights are usually fairly cheap especially with Easyjet.

Perfectly situated holidays in Calis

Calis is wonderfully situated along the coastline and is in perfect place for a range of good excursions and visits. It is only a short Dolmus (minibus) ride away from the busier town of Fethiye for those that seek bigger crowds and nightlife. It is also not very far from the wonders of the landscape at Pammukale or the stunning resort towns of Marmaris and Olu Deniz. There are options for boat trips to local islands such as Dalyan Turtle beach, or of course you could simply sit back at one of the popular beachfront cafes with a cocktail and a camera as the sun gently sinks below the horizon.
