South Australia has a border with every other mainland state, promoting an array of landscapes of which Australia is so famous. Due to its many lakes and estuaries, there is a large amount of vineyards, like that of Barossa Valley, producing internationally revered wines around the state capital of Adelaide. The city itself is surrounded by the low-lying Mount Lofty Range and starts to sprawl up the hillside.
Get to grips with nature on Kangaroo Island, and the sea lions of the Eyre Peninsula. There’s plenty more to see in Flinders Ranges; the impressive geological Wilpena Pound; Hahndorf, a German village in the mountains; the fossilised Naracoorte Caves; or the shipwrecks and Aboriginal histories of the southern coast.
