What started out as a prospector’s mountain village, the Canadian resort of Whistler has since grown to encompass a lot of winter excursions and outdoor recreational activities. The town itself is situated 2,214ft in the mountains while the highest peaks are Whistler Mountain (7,160ft) and Blackcomb Mountain (7,494ft), both used for skiing, the latter being particular troublesome and should not be attempted unless you’re ready.

Still considered a fledgling resort, it has undoubtedly built up quite a reputation, even going as far as to host the skiing competitions in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Aside from the snow fun, there are also three 18-hole golf courses and hiking, plus boating and sailing on the nearby lakes and rivers.
