On the map, Antigua looks like a paint blob splashed onto a Caribbean canvas, but it is in fact this unusual shape that gives the country several bays and coves of outstanding beauty, perfect for a romantic getaway. Governed with the nearby island of Barbuda, this archipelago has a lot of museums, cricket pitches, restaurants and activities to keep holidaymakers busy for days.

Every Sunday, go to Shirley Heights where they host a party complete with barbeque, fireworks and a whole lot of dancing. For a bit more fun, dive, snorkel, sail or jet-ski from Nelson’s Dockyard, a fully working Georgian Naval Port named after the British hero who worked on the island in the early days of his career.
