Day 1 - UK to Cape Town

The first day of your holiday will be spent travelling on an overnight flight to Cape Town.

Day 2 - Cape Town

Cape Town is a top international destination and considered one of the world's most beautiful cities. Large volumes of tourists flock to Cape Town to enjoy this unique city, its fascinating history, interesting culture, natural beauty, award winning wines and laidback lifestyle. Whether you are a serious tourist or just want to lie on the beach and enjoy life, Cape Town will satisfy your needs.

On arrival at Cape Town International Airport you will be met by a local representative who will transfer you to your hotel.

Day 3 - Explore Cape Town 

This morning your car rental will be delivered to your hotel and you can explore the city at your own leisure.

Key locations to check out are Robben Island, the icon of struggle in South Africa’s turbulent past, including the prison cell of Nelson Mandela; the Table Mountain Cableway, a rewarding 360° view of the city from 1000m above, where you can also go for a walk, have a bite to eat and enjoy the unique environment; V&A Waterfront, exciting shopping and entertainment opportunities in the heart of Cape Town’s working harbour, set to a backdrop of sea and mountains; Camps Bay, a wealthy coastal suburb with a very glamorous beach; and Signal Hill, with some of Cape Town’s most amazing views including the City, Table Mountain, the Harbour and Waterfront, and many suburbs and parks.

Day 4 - Cape Town & Surrounds

You’ve got another day to explore this magnificent city. There’s so much to do that you won't have had time to fit it all in yesterday. Head to Cape Point, the picturesque location, complete with the famous lighthouse; Boulders Beach, great for kids as the immense boulders shelter the cove from currents and large waves, with opportunities to swim with the penguins (caution is advised and you must not touch or feed them); Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, beautiful gardens showcasing Cape Town’s rich flora on the lower slopes of Table Mountain - there's a restaurant, tea room, bar and summer concerts for the sunset entertainment; and Chapman’s Peak, one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world, featuring 114 curves, skirts and a rocky coastline along a 9km route between Noordhoek and Hout Bay.

Day 5 - Cape Winelands

A mere one hour’s drive from Cape Town lays the valleys and mountains which have become synonymous with some of the world finest wines. Spectacular mountain scenery, fine hotels and guest houses, 300 years of wine making history and many of the country’s top restaurants combine to make the Cape Winelands into a much desired destination. This is the centre of South Africa’s award winning wine industry and places of interest include Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and numerous award winning wine estates.

Take an independent tour of the Cape Winelands, exploring the beauty of the region and taking in what makes this part of the world so special. Recommended locations are the Franschhoek Wine Tram, a hop-on hop-off tour that takes you through vineyards, scenery and South Africa’s oldest and most distinguished wine estates, with regular stops en-route; Boschendal Wine Estate, a famous vino residence complete with exceptionally manicured gardens and Manor House; and Spier Wine Farm, an estate with recorded history dating back to 1692, supreme heritage, contemporary experiences, picnics on the Eerste River, restaurants, South African art, and award-winning wine tasting.

Enjoy the journey across to Franschhoek, which is approximately 1 hour 30 minute drive from Cape Town.

Day 6 - Whale Coast

This rugged stretch of South African coastline snakes along the Atlantic Ocean, with magnificent mountains rising up on the other side. The spectacular scenery is made up of charming seaside villages, farms, rivers, coves and valleys, and during the right season, the region’s namesake, whales, can be seen cruising and wallowing in the coastal waters. You will head to the coast for a night spent in Gordons Bay.

Day 7 - Explore the Whale Coast

Every year, thousands of local and international visitors come to Hermanus for the best land-based whale watching in the world. Between the months of July and November, up to 100 Southern Right Whales visit the town’s protected waters and can be easily spotted from the cliff tops above, often coming as close as ten metres from the coast.

Also check out Cape Agulhas, regarded as the place where the warm Indian Ocean meets the cold Atlantic Ocean, Cape Agulhas is the southernmost tip of Africa. Its stormy seas and rocky coastline have claimed more than 140 ships over the years, perhaps most famous of which is the sinking of the HMS Birkenhead, where the concept of “women and children first” has since become known as the 'The Birkenhead Drill'.

Day 8 - On To Safari

Make your way east from Gordons Bay to Mossel Bay, travelling along the famous Garden Route. 

Gondwana Game Reserve provides the perfect safari break for Cape Town visitors. Less than a 4-hour drive away along South Africa's popular Garden Route, the reserve offers a distinctive, malaria-free, and luxurious safari experience. Situated on 11,000 hectares, Gondwana is the only authentic free roaming 'Big 5' game reserve in the Southern Cape. Herds of eland, gemsbok, red hartebeest, kudu and giraffe dot the landscape, which offers breathtaking mountain vistas and valleys cloaked in indigenous Fynbos adding colour. Fantastic sightings of the Big5, keep guests enthralled and expert field guides reveal Gondwana’s unique flora and fauna on foot or in open Land Rovers. Day 11 - Day at Leisure in Knysna

Day 12 - Depart George

After breakfast, drive back to George Airport to drop off your rental vehicle before your return overnight journey to the UK.
