Corralejo Holidays – Tourist heaven

A couple walking along Corralejo’s sandy beach.

Considering a holiday in Fuerteventura? Then Corralejo should definitely be at the top of the list. Once a quiet fishing village, Corralejo is now everything you would expect of a hustling and bustling seaside resort. Every day the resort plays host to ferries full of day-trippers from Playa Blanca in Lanzarote. The reason for the influx of visitors is Coralejo’s sterling reputation throughout the Canary Islands as one of the best places to come to spend some time whilst on holiday in the Canary Islands. Despite the lively and busy nature of the resort the centre of the town has still managed to retain it’s old-world charm. Centred still around the old harbour, the area has a quaint charm that visitors from all over Fuertaventura and the surrounding islands are drawn to.

Holidays in Corralejo – Offering great beaches, watersports and variety of activities

Despite the fast-paced development that is necessary to keep up with the increased demand for holidays in Corralejo, the little port still retains its charm. The cosy, sheltered beach, lined by a beautiful promenade, boasts numerous waterfront cafés and bars, mostly situated in converted historic buildings that add to the ambiance of the resort. The presence of the historic old town allows holidaymakers in Corralejo to steer away from the cheap and tacky seen in some of the more modern developments. The choice of cuisine on offer is sufficient enough to please all tastes and preferences. From good old English fish and chips to Mexican tacos or even Indian curry. For those wanting to taste a more traditional style of food there are a host of traditional Spanish ‘cafeterias’ serving up Canarian cuisine and fresh seafood. The resort’s main street, Calle General Franco, is a popular shopping street due to it’s high number of tourist-focused shops for holidaymakers to pick up any necessities from a lilo to sunscreen or even some clothes, jewellery or souvenirs. Several excursion-based tour operators have offices on the main street and on the beach there are stations that offer all the usual watersports. So whether you want watersports or tennis, glass-bottom boat trips, ferry trips to Lanzarote, jeep safaris, island tours, mountain biking or motorcycle tours; there’s bound to be something on offer when on holiday in Corralejo. If you fancy a break from the fast-pace of the main resort, there is a protected nature reserve on the outskirts of the town. This nature reserve has numerous sand dunes and quiet sandy beaches and provides the perfect place to come for a quiet stroll or swim away from the crowds.

Corralejo – Friendly and popular with English families

Holidays in Corralejo are a traditional Spanish-style holiday with friendly locals providing the opportunity to practice some of your Espanol, however the touristic nature of the resort and the friendly locals make Corralejo a suitable destination for people with little or no Spanish at all. In all, this resort is a friendly place, suitable for families looking for a beach holiday with a few extras.
