Tenerife holidays are popular because this beautiful Canary Island has year round weather that suits almost all holiday makers perfectly. In addition to the perfect climate, Tenerife has many forests in the north with mountains, deserts and the famous volcano, Mount Teide. Mount Teide is an active volcano which can be seen from almost every spot on the island. Due to the volcanic nature of the island, some of the beaches are spectacular with volcanic black sand. Holidays in Tenerife provide the perfect environment for a true family holiday, a relaxing break or a romantic get-away.
Holidays in Tenerife aren’t your average bucket and spade holidays. When on holiday in Tenerife you can swim and sunbathe on the beaches of Playa de las Americas, Playa de Fanabe, Playa de la Arena or Playa Paraiso whilst staring up at the snow-capped peaks of the volcano Mount Teide! It is the highest mountain in Spain, standing at over 12,000 feet. There is a cable-car ride to the summit (season dependant) that offers unrivalled views of the lunar-like landscape of its volcanic slopes. Tenerife holidays are mainly concentrated in the south-west of the island in resorts such as the resorts of El Medano and Golf del Sur. In the North is the capital Santa Cruz and resorts such as Santa Ursula and Puerto de la Cruz, which is a resort with hotels that are more suited to the more mature traveller, wishing to escape the crowds and buzzing nightlife of the clubbing holidays of the south.
Much of Tenerife's origins have moved on and made way for popular tourist attractions on this island, but there is still as distinct sense of the way things were with it's strong Spanish flavour. Costa Adeje and Costa Del Silencio still retain a Spanish feel but more laid back than the hustle and bustle of the mainland destinations. Guia de Isora, Los Gigantes, and Puerto de Santiago are very popular holiday destinations for those seeking a relaxing holiday, but don't mind a relatively busy beach in the summer.
