    Best times to travel: California is a year-round travel destination with weather that will please everyone, snow bunnies to sun worshippers. The best time to visit really comes down to what you want to do and what you want to see.

    Weather: Most of California enjoys a climate similar to that of the Mediterranean with lovely long warm summers and short wet winters.

    Travelling to California: You can take a direct flight to California from most UK international airports to Los Angeles and San Fransico. The average direct flight time from the UK to California is approximately 10 hours, 30 minutes.

    Time difference: GMT – 8 hours.

    Getting about: California is the third largest state in America. Travelling by car is one of the best ways to see America with its excellent road network of interstate, state motorways and highways. We’ll be happy to arrange you car hire and full insurance for peace of mind before you go. Here are some approximate driving distances to help.

    San Francisco to Yosemite National Park – 3 hours, 30 minutes

    Rail, Subway & Buses: If car hire is not appealing to you, both Los Angeles and San Francisco both have subway networks and commuter light rail. There is also Metrolink which serves much of Southern California. Local bus lines are generally safe and clean. Greyhound Lines offer a service around areas of the state.
